Innovative, sustainable, efficient – cleaning with dry ice!

For many, dry ice is merely a party trick when the gentle mist rises. However, dry ice can do much more, especially in terms of cleaning. Thanks to a special blasting process, dry ice can be used to clean large areas without leaving any damage or residue. Especially in industry, dry ice cleaning is very popular.

What is dry ice?

Dry ice does not consist of water, as the name suggests. Instead, it is CO2, or carbon dioxide, in solidified form. CO2 is both an odorless and non-toxic gas that is often used in the beverage industry to give water or beer, for example, a long-lasting fresh taste. At the same time, the shelf life is increased. Note: Dry ice is not the mist for which ice is known. Instead, it is a liquid, but often disappears in the mist. It has a temperature of -78.5 degrees and is compressed into dies for use. These pellets can then be used for cleaning.

The cleaning by dry ice

There are now many blasting methods for cleaning, such as laser or sand. Dry ice cleaning is also in this spate, but offers completely different advantages once again. The dry ice is shot out of the dry ice blasting machines at high pressure and then hits the dirt layer. This is removed by the pressure, leaving behind an undamaged and at the same time clean surface. One of the biggest plus points is that dry ice cleaning offers a much higher area performance. This means that with other blasting methods, you can only treat small areas at a time. With dry ice, it’s different because larger areas are feasible. This reduces the effort and more areas can be effectively cleaned in a shorter time.

What other advantages does the dry ice method offer?

The handling is simple and there are no special requirements for the environment. In principle, dry ice cleaning can be used in any area where there is a desire for cleanliness. After cleaning, no residues of the blasting material remain. Likewise, dry ice is not electrically conductive and is also non-toxic and non-flammable. Cleaning is therefore very gentle on the material. Another plus point is its environmental friendliness. Dry ice is only CO2, which has little impact on the environment. Moreover, no chemical additives are needed and even if dry ice should drip onto the ground, you don’t have to worry.

The cleaning method of the future

Dry ice is an excellent solution for cleaning, especially machines and equipment. After all, no residue is left behind and at the same time the dirt is removed even in tight corners. However, to get the best possible performance, it is recommended that you leave the task to a professional. This way, you can be sure that even the last particle of dirt will be removed. So, opt for dry ice cleaning if you want quick results.
